Neighbors oppose large addition to houses in portions of the University Area

I know many of you in this group have growing concerns as well about the property expansions in the University Area District. I encourage everyone to get involved in the discussions, as there will be many discussions upcoming with the University Area Commission and City Offficials and hopefully OSU to try to come to an understanding of what the neighborhood would like to see for the future. Please see the front page of today’s Dispatch as a starter to the conversation.http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2013/06/24/addition-opposition.html

  1. comment I posted on dispatch website:

As many residents in the area know, the area was not designed to handle the increase in population. The infrastructure is NOT there. Parking is horrendous, the large parties are disruptive, and we are seeing more and more long time residents leaving because of the late night noise and additional crime. These investors are purchasing single family homes, expanding them to 5 bedrooms or more and renting to 5-15 students at a time. What will happen to these homes, especially as OSU requires the sophmores to move onto campus. Who will you find that can afford these $230K homes that are willing to live in the campus area? No one! If I had that much to put on a home, I would move closer to Dublin. I wish to see the neighborhood continue to be a pleasant choice for students, professors and small families that want to be near campus and still find a quiet spot to study. Myself, I am a student, and enjoy the ability to have a family type atmosphere and continue my education in peace!!

  2. by the way… don’t forget to vote your feelings on the Dispatch website
