For those of you who do not know us, we are a community group that, since 2014, has hosted the SoHud Fools Parade. The parade is made possible through the help of amazing volunteers and generous donations from individuals like yourself, some local organizations, and businesses. Our goal is to build community connectedness and identity through creativity and lightheartedness. The parade is an all-ages event that encourages the fantastic, the redicloous, the homemade, the nonsensical, the huge, small crooked and tall.
And we’re baaaack! We’ve been off the parading streets of SoHud for a couple or three years now but we are returning this April for some of the most ridiculous merriment yet! We are celebrating our 10th, ummm 9th? Er ahh 7th annual parade in this fantabulous year of ‘23 on April 1st! No Jokin! As we have been a little slow to get the engine of zeal cranked up to 11, so we didn’t have a benefit show this year. We are reaching out to our beautiful wonderful hilarious friends and fellow fools directly to help get this thing spinning!
We are launching the festivities on April 1st from the Dude Locker by naming the Fool for the Day, an honor held by some of the greatest individuals in the country! We will head backward, forward, and sideward somersaulting through the streets of SoHud towards the site of the Festival of Hilaria; which features live music, games, costume prizes and much much more!
The costs involved with this event weigh in at about $1300 and cover the parade permit and police escort. As headliners Captain America and Billy can attest to, parading without a permit will land you in the clinker with some hefty fines (Hopper, D. 1969. Easy Rider. Pando Company Inc.). And we ain’t startin’ the Spring New Year out like that!
