It appears that the sixth annual SoHud Fools Parade was a huge success. And by success, I mean that many of the neighbors came out to either take part in the Parade and Festival of Hilaria or came out of their houses to watch the silliness before them. SoHud once again celebrated the beginning of a new year and to mark the beginning of spring and neighbors out and about in the neighborhood.
The SoHud Fools Parade sprung to life in 2012 at one of the block watch meetings where neighbors collaborated on suggestions on how we could build a stronger community. The block watch itself was one of those collaborations due to the recent upsurge in criminal activity and uptick in graffiti. The idea of building a stronger community would help to get neighbors to meet and recognize one another. Which in turn helps identify when something just does not seem aright.
So was the beginning of what this little artsy neighborhood has enjoyed for six years now, the SoHud Fools Parade and Festival of Hilaria.
Many neighbors have taken pictures and video of the event, and we would love to post some of them here! Please comment below on where we can capture some of these photos, whether they be on Facebook, Instagram etc.
We did notice a photographer from the Dispatch was following along the whole route, interviewing neighbors and getting some great shots. You can check out the Dispatch article: Only fools allowed in SoHud neighborhood parade
