Traffic concerns in the University Area District

The City of Columbus Traffic Management Division attended the University Area Commissions’ Planning Committee meeting today April 3rd, 2019 at 7pm. They came in request by the UAC to share information on how together both groups can address the concerns of the neighborhood.

The University Area Commission has been doing some survey of residents to get an idea on the concerns of the neighbors in relation to the mobility issues within the district as a whole. Of which, many of the concerns were driven by response of residents within the SoHud community.

It has been confirmed that city staff are currently reviewing various area for traffic patterns and usage by vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians after the recent restructuring of Summit and Fourth with the lane reductions and addition of the new bike lanes.

The University Area Commission will be reaching out to the neighborhoods in the district to learn about particular areas of traffic concerns and how residents feel about the city’s response to sharing information about updates on the usage patterns in the area. The UAC Communications Committee tonight discussed a few idea on how they can assist the Planning Committee on getting resident feedback. Be on the lookout for future communications and survey from the UAC.

If you have questions or concerns, you can attend the UAC public meetings held the third Wednesday of the month at the Northwood & High building or by sending an email to commissioners@universityarea.org
