Land Use Discussion Meeting
Monday June 10th at 6:30PM
Hosted by the Maynard Avenue Methodist Church at Indianola and Maynard
At the last University Area Commission meeting, some representatives from our neighborhood brought up concerns about single family residences being purchased and expanded under the pretense of being an owner-occupied property, but that are then being rented to larger groups of individuals, serving essentially as unlicensed rooming houses.
The specific questions centered on a property that is currently being constructed at 404 Wyandotte, though these questions apply to what has happened in many other places in our neighborhood, including Indiana and E. Patterson Avenues, and throughout the University area
Some of the Commissioners are planning a meeting with neighborhood residents who are concerned about the use of private residences for commercial purposes. The meeting will also include City authorities responsible for Zoning Review of such projects, and possibly representatives from Building Services.
Anyone interested in the use of land in the campus area is welcomed to attend. This is your advance notice of the hearing.
NOTE: Please walk to this meeting if at all possible. If you need to drive, do carpool! I ask that anyone who drives a car please ***NOT**** park in the church lot, as that is reserved for a church meeting that regularly meets on Mondays. Please also avoid parking on Indiana Avenue, as they have had half of the parking on their street removed by the city in the past year, and are struggling to accommodate the existing residents. Be aware that you will probably have to walk a block or two.
Thank you for helping us maintain our positive relationship with the Church, and respecting their graciousness in allowing us to use their space!!
