Join the Crew SC Staff in Earth Day Clean-Up Projects around SoHud
Friday, April 22, 2016

The Crew Staff will be in our area doing various service projects with community members on Friday, April 22. Community help is very much welcomed! So come celebrate a SoHud Earth Day & let the Crew know how awesome our community is!

1 – Maynard Summit Park Clean-up

  • noon to approx 1:30
  • meet at the Maynard Summit Park

We need people to bring tools to weed beds, rakes and shovels to distribute mulch, and if anyone wants to lend a wheel barrow that may be useful.

Bring drinking water and protective gear, such as hats, work gloves, long sleeves in case you encounter any poison ivy. The city will be providing trash bags.

2 – Install a perennial beautification garden at Indianola & Maynard

  • same time as park clean-up
  • meet at the Maynard Summit Park

We have some hostas, irises, violets, and lily of the valley donated. If you have easy-to-care-for perennial plants to donate, please email news@sohudblockwatch.org

Volunteers should wear work clothes, protective gear (hat, gloves, sunscreen, etc.), and bring trowels or spades to help plant. We will also need to make arrangements to have a few buckets of water onsite for the transplanting.

3 – Graffiti paint-out

  • 1:30 p.m. to approx. 5 p.m. (that includes the clean-up time)
  • meet in the parking lot at the corner of Indianola and Maynard Aves.

Wear sturdy shoes, clothes that can get paint dripped on them, and work gloves; bring water, hats, sunscreen, or any other human comfort/ personal protection stuff. We are asking to borrow any available wagons to cart materials in.

Also, we need locations of places that have graffiti that needs to be painted out and we need the property owner to sign the attached release. Please send locations to news@sohudblockwatch.org, and include a signed permission slip or the contact information for the owner of the property. We will target graffiti in these boundaries: south of Hudson, east of Indianola, west of the Railroad tracks, and north of Oakland.
